Voepass ATR 72 plane heading to Guarulhos crashes in Vinhedo, in the interior of São Paulo
An ATR 72 aircraft on a regular passenger flight just crashed on Friday afternoon (9) in Vinhedo, in the interior of São Paulo, hitting houses. The plane involved, registration PS-VPB, is an ATR 72-500 from Voepass, formerly Passaredo, which was on flight 2Z-2283 from Cascavel, in Paraná, to Guarulhos International Airport, in São Paulo.
Videos circulating on the internet show the aircraft spiraling downwards before hitting the ground and catching fire. The turboprop crashed in the Capela neighborhood of Vinhedo while descending for landing in Guarulhos.
Preliminary radar data indicates that the aircraft reached a descent rate of 13,000 feet per minute.
